About Us

The St. Vincent Climate Compliance Conference 2012–2021

In the light of the Global Climate Crisis, Richmond Vale Academy started a 10-year program in 2012 to make St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ready for Climate Change. So far more than 600 people from 72 countries have joined our 1, 6 or 10 Months courses planting trees, doing beach clean ups, making home gardens and teaching in schools and communities.

Our Focus areas are:

1. Food and Water – Healthy food security through a network of ecological home gardens and small farms with water harvesting systems installed. Locally placed farmers markets.

2. Renewable energy – Energy security through an off-grid solar system in villages and the reduction of Greenhouse Gasses through the use of biogas for cooking.

3. Ready for Climate Change

● Public education and awareness through newspapers, Internet, TV and radio, open house events, workshops and seminars.

●Work with the Ministry of Education to introduce Climate Change and Global warming in the curriculum of all schools.

  • ● Protection against land degradation through planting of trees and vetiver grass.
  • ● Planting of Mangroves along the coastline of St. Vincent. ●Organize and take part in beach cleanups with schools and
  • communities.
  • ● Sustainable Tourism.

At Richmond Vale Academy, we live a collective life in an international environment, with teachers and participants from many different countries and with a multitude of different backgrounds, beliefs, cultures, skills, languages and education. Sharing life and work in this setting with its challenges, necessities and important subject matters constitutes an excellent training in and of itself.

Richmond Vale Academy's programs are challenging. We foster the discovery and great pleasure or achieving common goals within a team, and realizing how much more can be achieved when people work together.
