We are BEAT. Bridging Education & Art Together.

Founded in 2009, Bridging Education & Art Together (BEAT) is a NYC-based nonprofit that provides unique Hip Hop-based arts education to disadvantaged students in underserved schools, community centers, and public institutions. We believe in the transformative power of Hip Hop to uplift and heal our bodies and minds. Our mission is to empower our youth and communities through creative expression to unlock their full potential.

BEAT is a multi-racial, diverse community of talented artists, musicians, program directors, and administrative personnel who share our mission. The majority of our full-time staff are ethnic minorities and/or immigrants, just like the students we serve.

For over a decade, BEAT has produced multi-disciplinary programs supported by research and technology. Our programs are free of cost and are accessible regardless of one’s background, socioeconomic status, nationality, or (dis)ability. 

Our four main programs are: 1) BEAT Rockers - Music & Speech Program that teaches beatboxing to youth, including those with physical and developmental disabilities; 2) BEAT Breakers - Dance & Wellness Program that teaches breakdancing and its roots while promoting healthier lifestyle choices; 3) BEAT Explorers - Lyricism & Music Composition Program that teaches creative writing/lyricism with an emphasis on original music production and song construction; 4) BEAT Letter Science - Visual Art Program that teaches the basic letter styles and techniques of Graf Writing and visual "Street Art". 

In addition to these programs, we provide Teacher Training, Professional Development, Corporate Workshops, and are in the process of establishing our Alumni and Career Development Program.
