About Us

The Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR) is one of the nation's premiere not-for-profit providers of pro bono mediation services and conflict management training. CCR's services are flexible and cost-effective, based on a track record of over 25,000 mediated cases and backed by the expertise of knowledgeable, dedicated volunteers and employees. Every year CCR provides free mediation services in over 2,000 cases, trains hundreds of new mediators, facilitates meetings and works with dozens of businesses, government agencies, schools and organizations to create custom-designed dispute resolution systems and training programs. The Center for Conflict Resolution's mission is to work with individuals, communities, courts and other institutions to manage and resolve conflict. CCR believes in: providing the highest quality conflict resolution services, helping people in conflict arrive at their own solutions, being responsive to the needs of the broad community it serves, granting access to its services to all people regardless of means or identity, valuing its clients, volunteers and staff as essential to fulfilling its mission, broadening awareness of the general public of the substantial benefits of conflict resolution.

Pro bono cases may be self-referred by anyone who is involved in a dispute or by counsel or judge by contacting the Center for Conflict Resolution. CCR also offers pro bono mediation services through programs developed in the Circuit Court of Cook County including the Daley Center, Maywood, Markham, Bridgeview and Rolling Meadows courthouses, misdemeanor branch courts and Juvenile Court. CCR's other programs include mediations conducted at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), through the Residential Alternatives for Dispute Resolution (RADR) program, the Community Consensus Project, Chancery Court cases and matrimonial fee dispute cases. The majority of cases mediated by CCR are civil in nature. Mediations may involve tenants and landlords, families, neighborhoods, juvenile offenders, the workplace, corporate, employment, construction, real estate, environmental, health care, personal injury, intellectual property, church and community disputes. It is not necessary for cases to have legal issues and/or lawsuits pending.
