About Us

The mission of the Children's Home Society of West Virginia is to promote the well-being of children. Our current efforts are directed toward protecting and nuturing children while helping to enhance, preserve and strengthen families.

Services include adoption, foster care, emergency child shelters, child and family services, Right From The Start, WE CAN Volunteer Project, Day Care, Truancy Diversion Services and Parent Education. Founded in 1896, the Society is a member agency of the Child Welfare League of America and is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Children and Families (COA). Services are provided to more than 6,887 children each year from a number of sites around the state.
