The Intercontinental Science Foundation, Inc (ISF) was initiated to make science, or what Julius Nyerere called "intelligence", work for the people. In February 2004, a group of graduate students at Boston College set themselves a task to bring graduate, post-graduate and other academicians, especially those from Africa, and those interested in African affairs, to convene an annual conference. With sights set on pure and applied science, an open invitation would go out at the beginning of each year and after a rigorous stage of elimination, a specific number of participants would present papers, the findings of which would then be grounded into practical activities, policies and/or models, the use of which would help transform the lives of the people of developing societies especially in Africa.
Our Vision

Intercontinental Science Foundation, Inc. is committed to developing an environment that facilitates research and development of innovative ideas among primary, secondary and university students interested in science and engineering. The ideas would benefit the communities in which the students reside. The Science Foundation seeks to play a role in building the local capacity in Africa by encouraging African students to develop their society through science and technological innovations.

Mission

The Science Foundation's mission is to promote youth participation in pure and applied sciences, and to match-up their innovative ideas with universities, research institutes, industries, non-governmental and governmental bodies for further development and consequently for the improvement of the general standard of living.

Goals

1. To motivate the youth to engage in scientific pursuits by way of competition, scholarship and sponsorships, and the utilization of the deliverables thereof to better the lives of the people in participating communities.

2. To match-up youths' innovative ideas with universities, research institutes, industries, non-governmental and governmental bodies for further development and consequently to create employment.

3. To publish and disseminate the innovative ideas and, with the repertoire of knowledge thus acquired together with the networking, to provide academic, policy and managerial support to non-governmental, governmental, research and other peer international institutions.

4. Bring about a better standard of living especially among marginalized and underserved peoples through Technology transfer. By linking the youth in the developed nations, especially those in Universities in the USA, to those in the developing countries, the ISF shall open a two way channel by means of which knowledge and technology transfer and appropriation through the sharing of skills, knowledge, technologies, methods of research and production among the participating communities will travel.

Technological Transfer
One of the main goals of ISF is the offering of consultation and advisory services to African communities, educational and institutions, NGOs and governmental bodies. One way of achieving this objective is by linking the youth in the developed nations, especially those in American Universities, to those in the developing countries, the Intercontinental Scientific Foundations seeks to bring about technology transfer and appropriation. Through the process of sharing of skills, knowledge, technologies, methods of manufacturing, samples of manufacturing and facilities among our communities, The Science Foundation will in effect open a two way channel by means of which knowledge will pass to and from.
Many companies, as well as universities and governmental organizations now have an "Office of Technology Transfer" dedicated to identifying research which has potential commercial interest and strategies for how to exploit it. The Science Foundation will link the Nigerian, the USA and the Ugandan offices together and the annual conference, together with the implementation phase after it, will be very instrumental in the realization of this endeavor.
