The New American Academy Charter School

The New American Academy Charter School (TNAACS) was founded in 2013 to transform elementary education through our innovative school model. Serving students in grades K through 5, each component of TNAACS is designed to support both the student and the teacher. Developed at the Harvard Graduate School of Education our model is predicated on the belief that student achievement is directly tied to the quality of teacher instruction and our unique model enables us to attract, develop and retain high quality educators. Each teacher at TNAACS is part of grade level teaching team responsible for a cohort of students. Our teachers participate in a three-year, k-2 or 3-5 looping cycle. Each of the loops are supported by a Director of Teaching and Learning team that provides imbedded professional development and support. In addition, TNAACS has a mastery-based career ladder that offers opportunities for professional growth and achievement and professionalizes the role of the teacher in our community. Our mission, “TNAACS builds strong relationships and creates an engaging community of lifelong learners. ” ensures that we support all the members of our community, students, families and staff alike to reach their full potential.
