Freedom First Credit Union is committed to sustainable community development through award-winning Impact Banking products and services for traditionally underserved populations; innovative partnerships with nonprofit agencies, businesses, and governments to leverage limited resources into measurable results; and grants, scholarships, and donations to support the efforts of local organizations. Serving the Roanoke and New River Valleys since 1956, Freedom First is the largest Community Development Financial Institution in Virginia. We donated $74,174 in donations of time, money, and scholarships and our staff logged 1,680 volunteer hours in 2011. We won the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility for our Responsible Rides program and were named NAACP-Roanoke's Corporate Citizen of the Year in 2011.
