Kupenda for the Children

Kupenda (“love” in Kiswahili) for the Children is a Christian-based, nonprofit organization that exists to enable children with disabilities to achieve their God-given potential.

Ultimately we want children with disabilities, along with their families and communities, to understand that they have value and are deserving of love. This is especially needed in the communities where Kupenda operates because of misinformed belief systems that lead to neglect, abandonment, abuse, and even murder of children with disabilities.

We change cultural misperceptions about disability through advocacy, education, and medical intervention to benefit children with a variety of physical and intellectual disabilities. Currently Kupenda's Innovation and Testing Center is in Kilifi County along the coast of Kenya, but our programs are also being utilized in 17 other countries around the world to reach children impacted by disability.
