GUILDANCE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION

We members of Guildance Community Development Foundation (GCDF) wish to introduce our foundation to your humble self in order to acquaint you will the aims and objectives of the NGO and briefly let you know the activities that we have proposed for this fiscal year, 2009.

Guildance Community Development Foundation (GCDF) is a Community-based Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) that is non-profitable in all its activities to the generality of the people. The Foundation was registered in April 2008 under Part ‘C ’ of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Act and started operations in the year 2000. We have also successfully registered with Civil Society on HIV/AIDS of Nigeria (CiSHAN) and United Nation Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The main focus of GCDF is to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through awareness campaign, pre-counselling,voluntary for the virus, and post-counselling, fighting discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS (stigmatization). The Foundation is also promoting the interest of the orphans and vulnerable children and the highly marginalized in the society. Currently, the foundation has offices in Osun State and Oyo State with plan to network throughout Nigeria in the nearest future.

Our vision is to empower, encourage and strengthen the people living with HIV/AIDS, alleviate poverty in the community through trainings, credit facilities, bridge gender gap, caring for people in the prisons, organize training for farmers to solve the problem of food crisis as well increase food production in Nigeria.

The aims of the foundation is to strengthen community for effective response to HIV/AIDS prevention and management, reduce the poverty level in Nigeria through training and provision of equipment for the less privileged, bridge the gender gap, mutilation and unlock the potential in women, establish training centre where people can learn various vocations and to develop our community through provision of social amenities.

We intend to : • Accomplish our aims through encouragement of people to check their status HIV through VCT/HCT centres. • To coordinate training and seminar on capacity building against HIV/AIDS spread. • Train people in the society to acquire skill on small scale business and organize workshop to impart knowledge to the participant via the following methods: demonstration, discussion, brainstorming, small group work, case studies/best practices, role playing, and presentation/lecture.

The Foundation has pool of experts that have the wherewithal in all our areas of coverage, who can perform creditably in these areas, given their pedigree and experiences over the years. It is these experts that have contributed to the recorded success and achievement of the NGO.
