About Us

Parents of children with intellectual disabilities face immense challenges. We believe that they will be better parents and caregivers if they get into a "rhythm of respite." Unlike parents of typical children, they cannot call just any babysitter. As a result, many spend very little time away from their children; some go years without spending a night away.

Jill's House is a 42,000 square-foot "respite resort" outside of Washington, DC, equipped with 45 beds, a pool, gym, music room, computer lab, three sensory rooms, art room, library, chapel, and 30 individual sleeping rooms. We like to say, "Parents get a day off. Children get a day to remember."

Most children -- and their typical siblings -- stay for a weekend, allowing parents time to catch up on work, connect with their spouse, sleep, spend dedicated time with other siblings, or just relax.

We are compelled to do this work by our love of Jesus, and our belief that He cares very much about these precious children with intellectual disabilities.

We are an integrated auxiliary of McLean Bible Church.
