Adventures Without Limits

Adventures Without Limits (AWL) is 501c3 non-profit, established 1995, that is based out of Forest Grove, OR.  Our mission is to open up the outdoors for people of all ability levels, ages and incomes through inclusive outdoor recreation. We use kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, hiking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, caving and recumbent biking as a tool to empower individuals. 

 

We serve people ages nine and up, and specialize in providing trips to individuals who normally would not have a chance to experience the outdoors if it was not for AWL.  Therefore we focus on serving people with physical and developmental disabilities, at-risk and homeless youth, seniors, and low income individuals.  We provide participants an opportunity to get outdoors and participate in activities that will allow them to gain new skills, increase their self-confidence, help them overcome fears, and gain new appreciation and respect for the outdoors.  For participants with special needs, we provide adaptive equipment as well as extra staffing that are trained in wilderness therapy, psychology and who have experience working with the populations we serve. 

 

Adventures Without Limits is one of the few recreation based programs in the country with a philosophy of full inclusion, and the only one in the Portland Metro area.
