Creative Alternatives of New York

For over 35 years Creative Alternatives (CANY) has provided therapeutic theater programs to traumatized and socially underserved individuals responding to the diverse ways in which emotional disturbance fragments the self, severs interpersonal relationships and severely impairs the developmental process. A leader in the field of drama therapy, Creative Alternatives provides over 1,200 drama groups each year on-site at domestic violence safe houses, residential treatment facilities for children and youth, psychiatric hospitals, veterans' mental health centers, homeless shelters, alternative school programs for special needs students, HIV treatment centers and treatment centers for the elderly.
