Georgia Coalition for Refugee Mental Health

Atlanta, GA

About Us

We are a growing non-profit committed to creating and supporting mental health services for the immense underserved population of refugees in the greater Atlanta community. Refugees suffer from a disproportionate incidence of trauma and other mental health issues as a consequence of their survival experiences in conflict, flight, existence in refugee camps and other precarious circumstances, as well as from the adjustment demands of adapting in the new countries which give them shelter. The provision of mental health services is intrinsic to the basic services needed by refugees. The Coalition brings together the refugee and mental health communities, along with other interested partners such as the school systems and universities, for joint efforts. To meet this need, we aim for a 3-tiered system of collaboration incorporating refugees, community leaders and service providers to serve the metro Atlanta refugee community.
