Hunger is a Growing Problem in New England

The Greater Boston Food Bank’s most recent Hunger Study estimates that one in nine residents are at risk of hunger. Project Bread’s 2014 Status Report on Hunger in Massachusetts found that the food insecurity rate has increased by 71% over that past ten years.

Recognizing that hunger is widespread throughout our surrounding community and that community-based non-profits have limited resources to independently undertake large fundraisers, TSNE organized its first Ride for Food in 2012. The Ride is a bicycle ride.
While many groups are doing phenomenal advocacy work on alleviating the many underlying and systematic causes of food insecurity (poverty, under- and unemployment, etc.), our goal is to raise money and awareness for the organizations on the the front lines actively providing the good, nourishing food that our fellow residents and their children need right now to lead healthier, less stressful lives.
