Essex County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Essex County CASA is an independent, court-authorized, non-profit organization which works through professionally trained and supervised volunteer advocates to promote the welfare of children in Essex County, New Jersey, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment.

CASA serves as a child's "Voice in Court", working to insure that needed services and assistance are made available while helping to move the child toward a safe and permanent home. Our vision is to provide a CASA to every child in foster care who needs one.

CASA volunteers:

• Represent the best interests of the child for permanency to the court and the child protection system
• Promote the delivery of needed services while the child is in foster care
• Seek to decrease the length of time a child spends in foster care and the number of placements he/she must endure before obtaining a safe and permanent home.
