About Us

Our mission: To provide housing and employment services that lead to self-suffiency among families and individuals in crisis within Latino communities.

Our History: SJOM been offering assistance to the homeless population in Pilsen since 1981. Today, we run an interim housing program for men in Pilsen. "Men in Crisis" and an interim housing program for women and children in Little Village, "Families in Crisis."

We provide a 120-day residential and supportive services program through our interim housing programs. Although our services are available to all on a non-discriminatory basis, we focus on meeting the needs of the Latino population, and we are the only interim housing provider in Chicago's Pilsen and Little Village communities.

The primary goal of our interim housing program is to assist and support participants as they stabilize their lives and prepare to move to permanent housing. participants receive a safe community setting, three daily meals, and a productive residential environment. A personalized program including case managers, psycho-educational and skill-building groups, referrals, follow-up and after care services is planned with each participant.

Our mission: To provide housing and employment services that lead to self-suffiency among families and individuals in crisis within Latino communities.
