Camp Top of the Pines

Camp Top of the Pines was founded by Vacams Programs for Youth and began serving young people at its site in Harriman State Park in New York State during the summer of 1990. Top of the Pines was conceived out of a need to provide a quality summer experience for 'at risk' youth being served by the Teen Opportunity Program (TOP). The TOP program was developed to respond to the growing need for year round intervention in the lives of children in the New york Metropolitain Area who were at risk of dropping out of school before graduation. The aim is to provide children with positive experiences to build self-confidence, self- discipline, and effective life skills.

Camp Top of the Pines began by serving only students enrolled in the Teen Opportunity Program but each summer has expanded and now serves a wider range of children. Camp Top of the Pines is a full-fledged summer camp program operating throughout the summer season. We offer over 400 children, aged 6-16, a memeorable summer camp experience.
