About Us

About 100 journalists are currently in prison. In more than half the world's countries, confiscation, banning and censorship of publications are everyday occurrences.

Every day, Reporters Sans Frontières works to help imprisoned journalists. Press campaigns are organised and protest letters sent to the governments responsible for putting them in jail. At RSF's request, about 40 imprisoned journalists are being sponsored by the media (newspapers, radio and TV stations). The organisation also helps journalists in jail by providing lawyers, paying bail and fines, and supporting needy families.

Reporters Sans Frontières publicises violations of press freedom. It publishes a monthly newsletter, an annual report and special reports on the state of press freedom in particular countries or regions of the world.
