About Us

B Sharp is a free after-school music program of the Goff Family Foundation started at Como Elementary School in October, 2010. Students at B Sharp receive ten hours per week of free, intensive, high-quality music instruction that includes choir, percussion ensemble and orchestra. Focusing on the transformative power of classical and orchestral music, B Sharp is inspired by El Sistema.

Founded 36 years ago in Venezuela, El Sistema is the world-renowned youth orchestra program that is transforming the lives of underserved children through music. It has produced musical talents such as Gustavo Dudamel, Edicson Ruiz and the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra. B Sharp is the first El Sistema inspired program in North Texas.

The mission of B Sharp is to foster positive youth development and community engagement through an orchestra and ensemble based music program.
