Project Chicchan is a wildlife monitoring organisation working in Guatemala to promote the conservation of biodiversity, with a particular emphasis on the reptiles and amphibians of the region.
These wildlife groups are generally understudied, and Project Chicchan organises research expeditions to areas of Guatemala where little or no previous research has been carried out.
Project Chicchan has established its flagship Project at the Las Guacamayas Biological Station in the Laguna del Tigre National Park, ideally located in the heart of the Maya Biosphere Reserve.
At Las Guacamayas, Project Chicchan is already carrying out pioneering research, and is well on its way to establishing a survey and monitoring programme. The findings from the research expeditions will contribute to future land management of the largest national park in Guatemala.
