Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR)

Founded in Philadelphia in 1971 as the first rape crisis center in America, WOAR is a vital non-profit organization dedicated to addressing sexual violence in our society. We provide free, confidential, and comprehensive sexual assault counseling and advocacy services, community and professional educational programs, hospital and court accompaniment, and outreach to the Latino and Asian communities in Philadelphia.

Our mission is:
- To eliminate rape in our society, beginning with the community that WOAR serves.
- To provide needed support and referrals to victim/survivors of sexual assault, their families and friends in Philadelphia.
- To empower victim/survivors to gain control over their lives.
- To educate and raise community awareness
-To reach out to survivors from traditionally underserved communities.
