About Us

The Franklin Stage Company (FSC) is a not-for-profit - 501(c)3 - professional theatre that in 2011 will present its 15th consecutive Admission Free season. FSC has a dual mission. The first is artistic: FSC aims, through imaginative and expert productions of great world drama, to present Admission Free plays that stimulate thought, provoke discussion, increase the appreciation of live theatre and enrich the lives of area residents. The second goal is the preservation of FSC's home, Franklin's magnificent Chapel Hall, a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and to maintain that building both as an architectural treasure and as a well-equipped venue that may continue to serve as a center for community activity as it has for generations.

Committed to presenting the best world drama Admission Free and to the highest possible standards, we are esteemed, successful and unique in this region for making the unfamiliar familiar and relevant, the commonplace astonishing & profound. Located in the western Catskills of upstate New York, FSC is not a community theatre, but is rather a professional theatre for a diverse and widespread community. Our work consistently continues to provoke debate, inspire wonder, console and, always, entertain. We believe that the shared experience of live theatre is vital for the health of society.
