About Us

In its 25th year of operation, the Jersey City Episcopal Community Development Corporation (formerly the Jersey City Episcopal Housing Corporation, Inc.) has emerged as one of the more prominent, community-based leaders to connect the impoverished and marginalized of Jersey City and of the County of Hudson, New Jersey, to tangible opportunities for sustainable economic empowerment. In 1997, the agency reorganized – and renamed itself – to expand its focus beyond brick and mortar, and address a wider array of social and economic challenges. In less than six years, starting with a service-related, operating budget of $100,000 the agency has grown to a $4 million agency – raising various government, foundation, private and other dollar sources. From one full-time administrator six years ago, JCECDC now employs a full-time staff of over 50, and is responsible for providing housing and social services to more than 3,500 persons annually. With the full range of emergency and transitional housing to permanent supportive housing, JCECDC is among the county’s largest providers for the homeless. With a growing commitment to serving the housing and developmental needs of the homeless, JCECDC, in partnership with government, various providers, and other related stakeholders, is in the process of significantly expanding its a service delivery system that offers homeless consumers with the full continuum of housing and supportive services.
