This year is the 53rd anniversary of the Job Forum's continuous service to the San Francisco Bay Area. The Job Forum was started in 1951 to help Bay Area job seekers do a better job planning and conducting their job search, and it has continued its original mission ever since. Today's Job Forum provides job search advice, counsel, and coaching to Bay Area job seekers. The format is that of an open discussion (or forum) where job seekers meet in a group but one at a time, each has the opportunity to explain their individual career goals and specific job search questions, and receive customized advice targeted to their particular job search situation. The whole meeting is run as an open advice and brainstorm session for the benefit of those looking for a job.
The job seekers are advised and helped by Job Forum "Panelists". The Panelists are all volunteers who have career counseling, human resources experience, and/or who are or have been responsible, hiring executives or managers in Industry. The Job Forum Panel of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce is considered to be a prestigious and rewarding group to join. The task of providing advice to job seekers and career changers is satisfying and there is a notable absence of organizational bureaucracy and time wasting. Most of the major companies in the Bay Area have had Job Forum Panel representatives over the years. The group is dynamic and they help each other with networking and business opportunities as well. Currently, the Panelist volunteers number approximately 20 and most have done more than three years of volunteering with the Job Forum; many have volunteered for 10 or 20 years. (Our Panelists are a very loyal bunch!)
The Job Forum meets every Wednesday evening at the Chamber of Commerce large conference room from 6:30-8:30pm. The Job Forum is a free service for job seekers or career changers. There are two volunteer Panelists available every Wednesday to run the Job Forum. Our web site is: http://www.thejobforum.org.
The Job Forum has helped literally thousands and thousands of Bay Area people with employment decisions. Most who visit the Job Forum are seeking white-collar jobs; many are very senior managers. The Job Forum has enjoyed a consistently high quality reputation as an effective organization.
