About us

IISME is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Silicon Valley that is focused on transforming STEM education. Our vision is to foster a collaborative community of business leaders, engineers, scientists, and educators who share a commitment to ensuring that all members of our society are equipped to benefit from and contribute to the innovations in science and technology that shape our future.

IISME focuses on teachers as the primary agents to effect meaningful change in the K-16 system. IISME’s flagship Summer Fellowship Program provides educators with in-depth, hands-on experiences at Bay Area corporations, universities and government agencies. IISME also helps our partners host one-day site visits for groups of educators. These programs enable IISME Teacher Fellows to see science and math concepts come to life in the real world and learn first-hand what skills their students need to succeed in today's work environment.

IISME Teacher Fellows are supported by industry mentors and experienced educators who help them translate their experiences into exciting and relevant instruction to bring back to their local classrooms. IISME Teacher Fellows, in turn, inspire millions of students to actively participate in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the San Francisco Bay area and beyond.
