Global Action Project (G.A.P.) provides training in media arts and technology for low-income youth. By combining best practices in youth development with media education, G.A.P. empowers youth to become active, informed citizens. Through the production of thought-provoking media of the highest quality on local and international issues, G.A.P. fosters young people's potential for leadership, artistic expression their exploration of social issues, global awareness and participation in their communities. By showcasing their videos, websites and multimedia projects, G.A.P. promotes and disseminates the perspectives of young people worldwide.
Founded in 1991, G.A.P.'s award winning videos have been produced by youth in the U.S., Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Ghana, Guatemala, the Middle East and Northern Ireland on critical issues including: cultural identity, refugee experience, sexuality, hip hop culture, immigration, and ethnic conflict. The result is over 45 youth-made films and a variety of multimedia projects that integrate video, music, photography, poetry, and web-based media. With over a decade of experience in the field, G.A.P. serves as a respected resource for other organizations seeking much-needed high quality video and new media materials.
