Streetwise and Safe (SAS) is a New York City-based organization focused on the policing and safety of LGBTQQ youth of color. Through “know your rights” trainings, youth leadership development and policy advocacy campaigns, we work to reduce the frequency and harm of interactions with law enforcement and to create opportunities for LGBTQQ youth of color to speak out on their own behalf, act collectively to protect and advance their rights, claim a seat at policy discussion tables as full participants, and demand choices that allow them to maximize their safety, self-sufficiency, and self-determination.
