The Master of Social Work program at Monmouth University School of Social Work is built around the ideals of advancing human rights and social justice. Ranked as one of the top social work programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, the school is nationally recognized and accredited. We are proud to be a Paul Coverdell Peace Corps Fellows, and Segal AmeriCorps match school, and the sponsor of the annual Social Work Day at the UN. We prepare students for careers as social workers dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals, families, and communities — locally, nationally, and globally. This degree gives you the combination of the latest theoretical knowledge and rich field experiences you need to be successful in one of today’s most stable career choices.

Our faculty are engaged globally through involvement with the International Federation of Social Workers at the United Nations and the International Red Cross, as well as through local organizations in Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex counties of New Jersey.

We offer two concentrations in the Masters program—Global and Community Practice and Clinical Practice with Families and Children.

●     Global and Community Practice encompasses macro and mezzo dimensions of social work practice in communities; this specialization is referred to as a form of macro social work practice. The curriculum provides the practice skills, knowledge, and experience necessary for practice emphasizing the interconnectedness of local and global communities such as advocacy, community organizing, program planning and development, and administrative leadership.

●     The Clinical Practice with Families and Children concentration addresses family- and child-focused concerns across a level of need spectrum from poverty and homelessness to communication and interpersonal counseling.
