About Us

Pader orphans caring project which is an organization registered as a community based organization working directly with beneficiaries.pocp is nonprofit making organization based in acholibur pader northern Uganda. It was set up as a response to rescue the traumatized children,orphans,needy,formerly abducted child soldiers,elderly,youths and HIV/AIDS AFFECTED FAMILIES who were affected by war of LRA REBELS and the growing need for sustainable recovery of the northern Uganda after two decade of conflict, the need to restore hope and transforming lives in northern Uganda. The need to move away from short term to long term locally driver solutionFor the last 21 years, a vast part of northern Uganda and particularly the Acholi community who inhabit it has experience one of African’s most horrified conflicts in the history.

The war is between the rebel of lord resistance army (LRA) and the government of Uganda. They mostly use children and militiamen to fight the war. These children are illiterate and grown up in a world of war and violence and obscure intentions remain the children as they are seen as soft target. They normally live a very sad miserable life. There is a day to day death and destructions that the communities have lived with for 21 years. Burnt down schools and homes, destroyed business and ambushed vehicles, land mines victims and machetes hacked bodies, crowded internally displaced persons camps (IDP camp) and make shifts schools, are the surprising effect of the on going war in northern Uganda

OBJECTIVE

The objectives for which the association is formed are to:

  • Support and provide for welfare of abandoned, destitute and orphaned infant/children
  • To support formal education for orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda.
  • To support orphans and vulnerable children with life and vocational skills such that they become self sustenance in future.
  • To provide counseling services for orphans and vulnerable children and their households about HIV/AIDS to enable them lead a more meaningful life.
  • To empower HIV/AIDS affected families and communities economically so as to reduce poverty in such families.
  • To advocate for rights and protection of orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda.
  • To support and care for orphans and other vulnerable children with basic services including housing, education, health support, nutrition and parenting love.
  • To ensure that all legal processes are followed for the purpose for committing the children in to the home
  • To instill in children the fear of God, Social harmony and peaceful co-existence.
  • To engage in charitable and social work independently or jointly with other organizations doing similar work.
  • Support and ensure in the quality of life of abandoned, destitute and orphaned infant/children.
  • To inculcate in children a sense of responsibility to themselves and the society at large
  • To work with governmental agencies and non-governmental; agencies to increase awareness on the right of children
  • To facilitate any legal measures and procedures and take practical decision for and on behalf of the infant/children beneficiaries of the organization and their best interest and for the welfare
  • Support and facilitate tracing of families of children the beneficiaries to the project and facilitate their reintegration where possible into their families.
  • Work with community to up hold and ensure respect for rights of children
  • Solicit for external support and assistance for the benefit and welfare of the beneficiaries to the home.
  • Carry out activities aimed at resource mobilization for the home.
  • To undertake activities that will help relieve poverty, disease and distress among people from socially and economically disadvantaged communities in Northern Uganda.
  • To develop the capacity of the said people in such a way that they are better able to identify and help meet their needs to participate fully in society.
  • To advance education through the provision of educational materials supplementary education and other educational activities.
  • To promote environmental conservation, protection and improvement through reforestation, recycling and other environmentally friendly activities.
  • To help improve the position of women, youth, elders, disabled and other vulnerable groups in decision making and management within local communities, local authorities and public administration.
  • To promote enterprise development and support businesses to access funds and secure markets for their products locally, nationally and internationally.
  • To carry out research with the view of identifying unmet needs of Northern Uganda residents and identifying appropriate approaches and strategies to address them.
  • To undertake advocacy and lobbying of Government and other bilateral and multi bodies on issues relating to the development of Northern Uganda.
  • To establish and maintain links with NGOs, organizations and other registered entities operating at district, national and international levels.
  • To lobby government for legal and/or policy reform that is geared towards creating a better environment for economic and social development of Northern Uganda.
  • To develop strategies for representation of the company on government bodies and bilateral and multilateral organizations to ensure full participation of the company on issues that affect its activities.
  • To maintain a dialogue with Local Government, Central Government and other local, national and international NGOs and bodies/entities.
  • To monitor and evaluate policies, program and practices of Government, bilateral and multilateral bodies, other development partners, the private sector and civil society in Northern Uganda in order to assess their impact on the company’s target population.
  • To mobilize & pool resources locally, nationally and internationally for the development of Northern Uganda.

  • Child sponsorship(education) 100 kids

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • From 2008 10 kids completed their course in different department,2 completed as nurses,3 as carpenter,2 as drivers, 1 on computer science and 2 as primary teachers and one is still at the teachers training college
  • We also bought land for constructing a school for children.it is 6heactare of land
  • We have a newly build orphanage which can accommodate 160 orphans.
  • We managed to get 35mattresses for the kids
  • We also received donation of sport uniforms from Liverpool FC in UK

FUTURE PLANS

  • We are planning to build school for the orphans and needy so that we can raise some money from the school to put an orphans in the college or university when he or she excel to university or any other institutions.
  • We are also planning to build a hospital which can serve the communities and also have clinic van which we can use to reach village where there is no health center so we give medical treatment to all community.
  • We are planning to have tractors which can help us grow crop for feeding orphans, elderly in the communities who are keeping orphans. We have the land more than 200 hectares’ of land for farming
  • We are planning to build churches in various village and nursery schools to help kids who have no access to school also to have school near them and the church for praying.
  • We are planning to build bakery so that kids can learn some skills and the bread will be sold to the communities and the money will be use for paying school fees for orphans, buying clothes,food,medicine,shoes,uniforms,school bags etc
  • We are also planning to put poultry,piggery,cattle,goats farm.
  • We are also planning to have solar energy for our orphanage home ,school, water solar pumping.
