Our Lady of Tepeyac College Preparatory High School is a Roman Catholic girls' secondary school deeply rooted in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. For 84 years Tepeyac has been a mission based school that, without regard to ability to pay or immediate preparedness for high school study, provides a multicultural educational experience developing each young woman to her full intellectual and spiritual potential in an environment that values learning linked to faith, family, and community.
Once home to Eastern European immigrants, the southwest side urban community of Little Village is now one of the largest Mexican American communities in the United States. Formerly St. Casimir High School, our name changed in 1990 when two parishes merged. Current enrollment stands at 150; 80% are Latina and 20% are African American.
As an open-enrollment school, Tepeyac accept a broad base of students. Consequently, we offer varied instruction, honors and regular tracks, with an emphasis on collaborative groups. Young women enjoy the distinctive benefits of our small school: committed faculty and staff, Catholic values-based education, student voice in school matters, a strong sense of belonging and a high probability of gradation and college acceptance. The hard work and dedication of our teachers ensures that individual attention is offered to each student and that nurturing, supportive relationships are fostered and created. "Teachers who care" are what young people most want in a high school. In our most recent North Central Association accreditation review the committee on Quality Assurance found that "through the commitment and dedication of the faculty at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School, girls are empowered to be independent women of the 21st Century." We know each student by name, where and with whom she lives, her interests, strengths and weaknesses. We know when she's struggling and when she's succeeding, both inside and outside our doors. Our school's greatest achievement is the development of strong character and fostering leadership in young women.
