About us

The American Academy of Arts & Sciences, headquartered in the heart of Cambridge, is unique in a city known for its strong intellectual traditions. Founded in 1780 as a research institution and honorary society, the Academy enjoys national recognition and influence as a vibrant center for the nonpartisan study of contemporary issues. What sets the Academy apart is its continuing mission of serving the public good through multidisciplinary, pragmatic analysis of today's complex problems.

The House of the Academy, a magnificent Arts and Crafts style structure situated on a tranquil wooded estate, provides an intimate home for scholarly thought, a welcoming place in which to convene the leading thinkers of the day, and a collegial, dynamic environment for our professional staff.

If you share our vision of shaping the future through intellectual leadership, please join our exceptional team and continue the Academy's unique and rich legacy.
