About us

EarthRights International (ERI) is a nonprofit group of activists, organizers, and lawyers with expertise in human rights, the environment, and corporate and government accountability. Earth rights are those rights that demon-strate the connection between human well-being and a sound environment, and include the right to a healthy environment, the right to speak out and act to protect the environment, and the right to participate in development decisions. ERI's programs are designed to meet the following goals:

1) To investigate, monitor, and expose human rights and environmental abuses occurring in the name of development;
2) To increase transparency and accountability of governments, transnational corporations, and international financial institutions;
3) To protect individuals and communities at work defending the earth; and
4) To ensure biodiversity, conservation, and ecological integrity.
