Write Around Portland was founded in 1999, and our mission is to change lives through the power of writing. Learn more at Write Around Portland.

Write Around Portland holds free creative writing workshops in hospitals, prisons, schools, treatment centers, low income residences, homeless shelters and social service agencies. Our workshops are based on respect, writing and community. Three times a year, we publish books of participants' writing and organize readings where participants share their writing with each other and with the greater community.

We also offer unique generative writing workshops with an associated fee for new and seasoned writers who want to participate in our workshops and support the communities we traditionally serve: Prompt at Powell's City of Books and workshops at HOTLIPS Pizza.
