Description

Young Women's International Global Skills Program (GSP) is an initiative in support, skills development and vocational educational for young Indian women. Young Women's GSP provides integrated internationally certified qualifications in partnership with EdExcel UK and Seeks Skills Australia in the areas of:

a) hospitality,

b) retail management and sales,

c) packaging, and

d) small business management.

In addition, Young Women's GSP, provides additional education and skills development in:

  • Spoken English and IELTS
  • Operating computers & other electronic housekeeping equipment
  • Western Kitchen, Cooking & Table Etiquettes
  • Cross-cultural Awareness and Social Skills
  • Family caregiver and health education
  • Women rights and legal support
  • Car driving

Our vocational qualifications are designed and developed by International training and accreditation institutions, giving the students internationally recognized qualifications at the completion of their studies. These qualifications, in combination with our additional skills development programs, seek to increase confidence, skill development, empowerment, and enhanced career pathway opportunities for local women from rural Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Young Women's GSP seeks to support the personal and career development of young women through practical learning activities in social and environmental development projects that also provide benefits to the wider community.

Students will spend 4 weeks of their one year program engaging in practical grassroots development in our host ViKAS centre facilities in the areas of Environmental conservation, Empowerment and Education with international interns. We aim to foster a SEVA (selfless service) spirit amongst our participant learners by providing them with a platform to connect with and contribute to their local community.

Our approach utilizes holistic learning solutions through skills development, long-term career guidance and support, practical experience and reliable, high quality international qualifications.

The Program

The program will involve a three step process. These steps are:

  1. Essential skills program – the focus of this phase is to introduce students to the program, update their English literacy skills, and introduce them to aspects of skills development useful in developed countries.
  2. Certificate III Hospitality program – the focus of this aspect of the course is to help student develop skills to work as a supervisor in a western hospitality environment or restaurants and housekeeping services. Customers service, and dealing with customer communications and complaints are also key learning outcomes of this program.
  3. Certificate III Retail Management program – this course builds upon the skills learnt in the first two phases of the program. The qualification provides a pre-tertiary qualification that will be recognised in developed nations. It also provides skills in retail management, and warehouse environments, both skills set useful for potential employment in developed countries.
