Palestine Works

Nonprofit or community organization

Description

Palestine Works is a new US-based nonprofit founded by diaspora Palestinians to promote Palestinian human development.

Our vision is a Palestinian society that can enjoy the improved prospects and economic, social and political benefits of a strong economy, one powered by the development and deployment of Palestinian human capital.

Our mission is to help realize this vision by engaging, developing and harnessing the expertise of young professionals by giving them access to high-impact knowledge transfer opportunities, including internships, conferences, publications and networking.

Law Fellowship Project

The Law Fellowship Project harnesses the talent and passion of law students and recent law graduates to support the work of human rights organizations and law schools serving Palestinians in the Occupied Territory and Palestinian citizens of Israel.

We recruit qualified and committed Law Fellows for summer internships with our 20 partner organizations in Palestine and Israel. We help our partners make the most of our Law Fellows by ensuring that the internship is well-planned, the Fellow is well-prepared, and the Fellow's work is well-supervised. We also enhance the internship experience with an orientation conference, weekend and evening programs, and networking events throughout the summer.

Our Law Fellows commit to continue working for the rights of Palestinians beyond their internships through legacy projects, which include academic writing and conferences, social activism, and creative endeavors.

The 12 Law Fellows in our summer 2013 class volunteered near 6,000 hours of legal work to 11 human rights organizations and law schools. Our summer 2014 class of 20 Law Fellows will provide over 9,000 hours of legal support to our partner organizations and the Palestinian communities they serve.

Law students and recent law graduates can apply to the Law Fellowship through PSJD, through Symplicity at select law schools, or by sending a resume, cover letter, writing sample (10 pages or less) and law school transcript (including courses in progress) to applications@palestineworks.org.

Any questions regarding the Law Fellowship Project or the application process should be directed to info@palestineworks.org.
