About us

IESP conducts non-partisan scientific research on U.S. education and related social policy issues. Results inform policymakers on the effectiveness of instructional programs, the impact of school reform initiatives, and the social and financial determinants of academic achievement. Our current research focuses on the intersection of education and other social policies, including school food policies, summer jobs for youth, housing and informal education, and their impacts on educational outcomes. Our research is funded through federal, local and private grants, including the Institute for Education Sciences, the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Spencer Foundation, the New York City Department of Education and the Fund for Public Schools.
