The Specialty Family Foundation was established in 2008 with the goal of supporting needy individuals
and communities in the Los Angeles area. The first of the foundation's primary goal areas focuses on
support for K-8th grade Catholic schools that serve poor communities in and around Los Angeles. On the
one hand these schools produce incredible academic outcomes. A recent study discovered that fully 99%
of low-income Catholic school students in L.A. graduated from high school with 98% attending college.
On the other hand, these schools are under tremendous financial pressure and many are on the verge of
closing. The Specialty Family Foundation seeks innovative ways to reverse this trend. The second goal
area focuses on support for organizations that provide support for individuals working to overcome
alcoholism and substance abuse. The Foundation has $70 M in assets and an aggressive spending policy.
