About Us

"No Act of Charity is Foreign to the Society."

For more than 100 years, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Los Angeles (SVDPLA) has provided programs and services for children, the homeless and the poor within the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara. All services are free-of-charge regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, handicap, or national origin.

SVDPLA is part of a worldwide organization of men and women who are committed to live and grow in their Christian faith through prayer and personal involvement in charitable works.

The Society's mission is accomplished through parish-and community-based volunteer groups, and programs that include thrift stores, homeless shelters, prisoner transition services, and a summer camp for underprivileged children. The Society's work includes any actions that promote the dignity of the person, alleviate suffering and distress, while correcting the conditions that cause them.
