The mission of the BPC is to improve the public good by developing and advocating politically viable solutions to some of the nation's most vexing public policy challenges. BPC's organizational strength lies in its ability to convene an ideologically and professionally diverse group of leading political figures, advocates, academics, and business executives to engage in principled compromise, supported in the endeavor by top quality and unbiased analysis, and by an Advisory Board comprised of former Senate Majority Leaders Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole, and George Mitchell, who provide strategic direction inspiration, and access to an unrivaled political network. BPC's vision is to become, and to be recognized as, the nation's leading catalyst for successful solutions to society's more intractable public policy problems, so long obstructed by the partisan rancor and strident opposition characterizing modern American politics. We believe that successful application of the BPC process will gain the attention of policymakers and, thereby, reinforce the emergence of a new and more positive political paradigm across society, one driven by spirited, but civil compromise among ideologically diverse parties, whose common objective is to improve the lives of all Americans today and in the future.
