ABOUT JUST BEGINNINGS COLLABORATIVE

Just Beginnings Collaborative is an intermediary fund working to shift philanthropy towards equity and liberation to address the underlying root causes of Child Sexual Abuse rather than merely symptoms. We center and support the wisdom and strengthen the power of grassroots movements to become innovative builders—builders of community safety, support, and accountability — that address the violence caused by the state, as well as interpersonally – empowering communities to people to thrive, prevent, and more effectively address Child Sexual Abuse when it occurs.

Our Values

Childhood Wisdom: Preventing harm requires us to create the space to learn from children and incorporate their experiences of safety and support into our practices.

Deep Listening & Cultural Humility: Many people who avoid systems involvement have developed their own effective ways of addressing harm. Honoring these ways will help build true prevention.

Collective Accountability & Action: We all contribute to a society that enables violence to continue. Violence is a necessary tool to maintain power and oppression, not just an individual abnormality or tragedy. Violence requires a collective response.

Safety in Context: We commit to building adaptable responses that grow from specific conditions as opposed to being handed from the top down.

Joy: Inviting joy into our work serves as an antidote to the felt inevitability of child sexual abuse and enables us to lean into love, embrace hope, and liberate our imaginations.
