Women's Environment and Development Organization(WEDO) is an international advocacy organization that works to empower women as policymakers to achieve economic, social, and gender justice, a peaceful and healthy planet and human rights for all. Its overarching goals are to advance democratic, accountable and gender-balanced governance; challenge the current global economic system and promote alternative people-centered sustainable development models; and build support for multilateralism and international cooperation.
WEDO uses four interlinked strategies to achieve these goals: advocacy and monitoring in key global forums, particularly the United Nations; supporting advocacy efforts of women's organizations at the national and regional levels; building broad strategic alliances within civil society to hold governments accountable; and engaging US women on foreign policy and global issues.
