Established in 1978, the Downtown Women's Center was the first to serve mentally ill and elderly homeless women on Los Angeles' Skid Row. The Center owns and operates a drop-in Day Center and permanent low-cost Residence.
The Center is committed to providing each woman with the personal support necessary to help her achieve self-sufficiency. With its broad range of individualized services, the Downtown Women's Center is home to women who were previously without permanent safe shelter.
The Downtown Women's Center is a secular organization supported entirely through donations fron individuals, businesses, religious and cocial organizations and foundations.
