About us

The Development Gap is a social enterprise for the sustainable development of Manchester, Jamaica through sustainable agro-tourism. Volunteers who work with us are often feel as though they are on a working holiday as we give them plenty of opportunities to explore the island.

We are involved in the rehabilitation of mined lands, the creation of an EcoVillage and Arts festival, a selling platform for Jamaican crafts inorder to encourage buyinig locally, and other ecologically aware small business development projects.

All of these goals fall under the Manchester Parish Development Committee's Local Sustainable Development Plan which in turn has taken its orders from the Jamaica Vision 2030 Plan. Under these plans Jamaican changemakers hope to achieve Developed Nation status for the island by 2030 under sustainable and environmentally mindful conditions.
