American Red Cross of Northwest MI

About Us

The American Red Cross is a nonprofit humanitarian organization that has served the humanitarian needs of our communities and armed forces since 1881 and has been chartered by Congress to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Northwest Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross is based in Traverse City and proudly serves Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, and Kalkaska counties.

Here at the chapter you will find our volunteers teaching adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED, water safety, babysitting, and pet first aid, responding on call 24/7 to local fires, emergencies, storms, and floods that displace our neighbors, providing relief, comfort, and counseling, setting up blood drives and community events, and deploying to major disasters when they happen around the country.

As a volunteer-run organization, volunteers are critical to the success of the American Red Cross. As 90% of our chapter’s workforce, without you, we would not be able to provide programs and services to the community.

Thank you
