Description

Pepal is a charitable group which creates long term partnerships between businesses and NGOs in developing countries and emerging markets to achieve sustainable and scalable social change. Pepal fulfils its mission through designing and delivering executive training programmes which:

 link executives with developing country NGO and public sector leaders to create joint teams;

 combine academic training with immersion visits and project work;

 create social innovation projects which are subsequently piloted.

Notable partners include Johnson & Johnson, International Red Cross, NHS, LSE, INSEAD, and Nestle.

Originally an initiative of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, Pepal became independent in 2009 with the support of Fondation Hoffmann. Since then, Pepal has delivered 13 workshops, trained over 250 participants from 20 companies and 20 NGOs and launched projects in eight countries. Key achievements include: establishing Uganda's first farmer owned coffee company; establishing a new business plan for an eye hospital in Orissa which resulted in 100% more cataract operations delivered annually; and increasing blood collected in Uganda by 5,000 units a year.
