Description

Words Beats and Life (WBL) transforms individual lives and whole communities through hip-hop. Our year round program activities are led by graffiti mural/visual artists, DJ's, and MC's, whose sole purpose is to work through hip-hop to enhance academic excellence, encourage community service and support positive self-expression. WBL was founded in spring 2002 in Washington, DC. The founders understood the potential power of hip-hop culture, specifically DJ'ing, Spoken Word Poetry, MCing and Graffiti Murals, to be vehicles for individual and community transformation.
