The ACLU is a nationwide, non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the defense and expansion of civil liberties and civil rights. The ACLU of Northern California was founded in 1934. It is the largest ACLU affiliate in the nation, with 50,000 members, 22 all-volunteer chapters and clubs, and a staff of 60, including a legislative office in Sacramento.
