Description

Integrated Rural Community Center for Agriculture is an agricultural non profit (NGO) in Cameroon fighting to improve the living standards of the rural population through the practice of sustainable agriculture, agricultural diversification and the pursuit of relevant community developmental activities such as providing capital and capacity building (on plan)to farmers in an effort to improve access to inputs and equipment. We also seek institutional linkages with other stakeholders in the agricultural domain in order to build a sustainable foundation for proper growth as well as integration into the global community. Below is a nutshell summary of our mission statement.

Integrated Rural Community Centre for Agriculture is an autonomous non profit organisation fighting to alleviate poverty in Cameroon through the development and adoption of sustainable and appropriate technologies, practices and diversification in rural agriculture. We encourage empowerment through knowledge and seek to develop literacy and educational programs both within our organizational structure and in partnership with other governmental and non governmental organizations

Our over riding objective is to improve rural livelihoods through Improved Agricultural Production. To achieve this we have designed targeted initiatives within the community and mechanisms within the organization to strengthen the technical and management capabilities of our organization as well as help tackle the practical problems we encounter.

    Subject: World food problem

As an Agricultural Rural based community association, we have studied closely and seen that bulk of problems are in rural areas. Because of this we're dedicating all our efforts in rural areas. We must change one or two things.

The greatest problem we have now is that of poor soils which need heavy manuring or fertilizing if any substantial is to be harvested. It is a big headache.

I tried to convinced IRCCA members to practice organic farming but heavy reliance on agriculture made it difficult for this to succeed.

Responsible behaviour is the most important determinant factor to the success of any community. In a household the father must assume the role of a father, the mother that of a mother likewise the children. If we want to build a perfect society then no one should want to get more than his/her fair share neither should one refuse to do what he's lawfully expected to do nor get engaged in activities designed to cause harm to others. Though this balance is difficult to establish we must not be defeated or become slaves of our own weaknesses.

giving me all the food on earth and telling me to stop working on my farm is not different from giving me pap and telling me to remove all my teeth.

many are called but few are chosen; many are born but few are successful. Should we forget those who are unable to make it in life?
