Mission Statement
Village Care of New York is a community-based, not-for-profit service organization serving the elderly, persons living with AIDS, and individuals in need of medical and rehabilitation services. We are guided by the people we serve in alliance with staff, administration and the Board of Directors.
Our mission is to create a caring and supportive environment in which all of those we serve, including their families and partners, are respected for their uniqueness. We encourage all persons to treat themselves and others with kindness and respect. Good physical and mental health is nurtured by accepting people as they are and by engaging individuals in an interactive process of healing the body, mind and spirit in a therapeutic environment. We recognize and support self-directed care – allowing the people we serve to maintain their independence and control their own care.
Our mission and programs offered reflect the many years of experience we have had assisting people as they face the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges associated with illness, aging, disability and death. We are guided both by these experiences and the knowledge gained from partnerships with the people in our care.
We strive for constant improvement in our performance and programs – led by innovation in services and the insistence of helping others in a supportive environment. We respect the contributions of all staff and encourage them to participate in program and activity planning. We support and engage in research as a means to increase competency and knowledge in the delivery of care.
We integrate the proven effectiveness of current standards and practices with emerging technologies, protocols and approaches – optimizing the quality of care and life of those we aid. We blend traditional and alternative therapies, embracing those services that are holistic in nature, while operating within the guidelines of New York State, federal and local codes.
We are committed to improving the health of our community by measurably increasing the access and availability of our services. We share a mutual obligation to strengthen our relationships within the diverse communities in which we work – respecting people of all cultures, genders, sexual orientation, races, ages and creeds – providing an environment of hope and acceptance.
Village Care of New York is committed to maintaining fiscal viability and program credibility, while cautiously investing in new efforts and programs that meet the needs of those in our care. By taking measured risks, our organization seeks to forge new approaches and establish new pathways for the people we serve.
Leadership is the key to our success. We encourage and support our staff to seek leadership roles within the organization and the communities we serve. Village Care of New York strives to be a leader in the broader professional, advocacy and civic arenas.
