SHIFSD exists to reduce poverty through access to Functional Adult Literacy and Entrepreneurship. We believe that through ensuring access to functional adult literacy and entrepreneurship, SHIFSD will be contributing to the fight against abject poverty and the lack of resources which breed social imbalances that lead conflicts. We believe also that sustainable development is inextricably linked to the active promotion of Human Rights.
SHIFSD is a non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO). SHIFSD works in partnership with various national and international NGOs such as IBIS Liberia, ZOA International, American Jewish World Service (AJWS), Stichting INITIAT, NHRF, Gered Gereedschap and Universal Hope Initiative, amongst others.
SHIFSD currently runs projects in the area of Functional Adult Literacy, Human Rights/SGBV, and Microenterprise development in several rural communties situated Monterrado, Margibi, Maryland, Bong, Grand Gedeh and River Gee Counties.
