About Us

SHIFSD exists to reduce poverty through access to Functional Adult Literacy and Entrepreneurship.

SHIFSD registered with the Government of Liberia on May 30, 2005 as a national non-governmental development organization. Originally, SHIFSD was established in the Central Region of Ghana by a group of Liberian Refugees on November 11, 2000. Today, it is headquartered in Monrovia, Liberia, after seven plus years of working with refugees at Buduburam.

SHIFSD’s work aims at encouraging sustainable development, creating access and promoting functional adult literacy, technical vocational skills training, entrepreneurship, and social justice. We work in Montserrado, Margibi, Bong and three others in the Southeastern part of Liberia with a field office located in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
